The valley and its forested and mountainous surroundings is packed with a healthy and wild red-deer population that makes for challenging fair-chase free-range wild red-stag hunting experience that is virtually unparalleled. Many great trophies have been taken in the Traful River valley year after year. Sensible culling policies have been carried out systematically throughout the years. And trophy limits per season have always been, and still are, low.
The hunting can also be combined with superb fly-fishing on the famed Traful River where trophy brown and rainbow trout are often taken, as well as landlocked Atlantic salmon.
Arroyo Verde is a sophisticated and classy lodge with six double rooms each with their private bathroom, comfortably and elegantly furnished sitting and dining rooms. There is also the guest cabin, which is perched on a cliff with a simply unimaginable view of Lake Traful.
Arroyo Verde is also ideal for guests traveling with non-hunting spouses or the more casualr fisher-person. Horseback rides are always possible and can easily be arranged for short rides or a day of riding in this breathtaking scenery.
The Traful is a very special river, it holds all different kinds of “salmonids”: rainbow, brown and brook trout, land-locked salmon and occasionally perch, giving anglers the full fishing experience. At the beginning of the season, mid November, the river runs high and fast, becoming lower in December but usually with fast water till the beginning or middle of January (depending on weather conditions, especially the previous winter snows in the mountains), the river then runs slow till the first rains of autumn. Its width varies from 60 to 90 feet (20 to 30 meters).
